about

The Project

Located in Tabuado, Marco de Canaveses, you can find the beautiful Wine Estate of 50 000 m2 that gives the name to the family-produced wines Sapateiro.

A vineyard, fruit trees, plants, animals, a wine cellar and a great view of the city of Marco de Canaveses, makes this Wine Estate a quiet place which people love to visit.

Here we produce high-quality boutique wines made with autochthonous grape varietals, all carefully selected and hand-picked.

All our bottles are individually enumerated – a way to show our small and special production, and the corks hold a surprise for you as well, therefore don’t forget to check them.

Our production is around 15 000 bottles per year and at the moment we produce around fifteen different wines; they are small batches or micro-vinifications in such small quantities that at the time you read this, some of them are likely to be sold out.

Tiago is responsible for the project and aims to protect the region’s authenticity while searching for modern styles that will enhance the wine experience for its clientele. We also look forward to building a great farm and providing fantastic wine tourism programs to our guests.

We already do tastings in our humble facilities, so… if you are curious to make a visit, get in contact and book one.

The Team

Tiago Soares

Founder / Wine Producer

For the audacious adventurer, the exquisite customer and the person who loves great experiences, I created Sapateiro wines.

More than a wine, I want to create something that defines you.

Enjoy them!

António Soares

Viticulturist

It all started as a hobby and passion for the vineyard.

Initially, I was making wine only for us, but when I realized that people enjoyed it and were asking for more of it, I started to devote more time to the vineyard and less to the shoes.

Today this is a small family business, on which I am very proud to know that people from all over the world are appreciating them. Saúde!

Silvi Teixeira

Executive Assistant / Chef

In every small business it is important to have somebody who’s versatile and flexible, capable to respond and act in different areas of the business.

That’s me! You will see me wearing many hats at Sapateiro, with the goal to help this family develop and grow their business.

Chico & Inácio

Recepcionist & Children's Entertainer

“Please, throw the ball!
And don’t worry about me, the only thing I bite is food.”

For reference, they are very friendly and Inácio, the big one, is a trained dog. Chico is older and the boss in the area.
